Description
A static recompilation of Skate 3 for iOS, rendering through Vulkan on MoltenVK. Runs at a locked 60fps on an iPhone 13 mini (A15): median frame 16.7ms, 95th percentile 16.8-17.8ms.
YOU MUST SUPPLY THE GAME. This app contains no game content and will not start without it.
AFTER INSTALLING:
1. Connect your iPhone to a computer and open Finder > your iPhone > Files > Skate 3 (on Windows, iTunes > File Sharing).
2. Drop in a 'game' folder containing your own disc files. That is about 6GB, so allow a few minutes.
3. Add Title Update 3, the free update EA published on Xbox Live - it is not on the disc and the game will not run without it. The app can download it for you: choose "Install the title update" and then Download. If you would rather supply it yourself, copy the package into the same Skate 3 folder and it is found automatically.
The setup screens walk you through steps 2 and 3.
On-screen touch controls appear when no controller is attached; MFi and Bluetooth controllers are picked up automatically. Press Start + Select together for a performance menu that shows your frame rate and what is limiting it.
Requires iOS 16.0 or later.
Change Log
The title update can now be installed from inside the app. Before this, iOS could do neither half of it: the "select a file" route went through the system document picker, which does not work under TrollStore or on a jailbreak, and the download button was never shown at all - so players who had just installed from a disc image could install the game and then not the update it requires. Now you can download it in the app (1.7 MB, no computer involved), or copy the package into your Skate 3 folder and have it found automatically, the way disc images have been found since 2.6.0.
The app opens on a home screen instead of straight into the game: Play, install from a disc image, install the title update, choose a map pack, and save a diagnostic report you can share from the Files app.
Settings now stick. Twenty-four rows were being forced back to their defaults at every launch - resolution, V-Sync, MSAA, shadows, ambient occlusion, bloom, sun shafts, draw distance, the frame cap, and the audio and interface rows. The menu wrote your choice and startup overwrote it on the way back in. Opening and closing the menu also used to freeze the per-device memory budgets at whatever that launch picked; it no longer writes rows you did not touch.
Map pack names appear in other languages. A pack built for one market leaves the other languages empty and the game showed those empty slots - an unnamed entry in the map list and raw identifiers where level names belong, reported as the DLC maps not loading in French or Spanish. Names now fall back to English. Fixed in the game rather than in the packs, so it applies to packs you already have.
