Downloading Liked Songs could end with the same song being retried on a loop. Each track was allowed a few attempts before Octave gave up on it, but giving up left no record anywhere: a song that never finished was never marked as saved, so the next time anything looked at your library it looked like work that had not been started yet and was handed a fresh set of attempts. Smart Downloads checks your Liked Songs when the app opens, when you turn the setting on, and every couple of hours in the background, and each of those checks skips every song already on your phone — which means it re-queued exactly the one song that could not be saved, and only that one. Long after the rest of the list was safely downloaded, the queue was a single track being attacked over and over. Octave now remembers when it has given up on something and leaves it alone for fifteen minutes, then longer if it keeps failing, while still picking it up by itself once the problem clears. Tapping Download on that song, or on the collection a second time, still forces an immediate retry, because asking for something twice should mean something. Retries also go to the back of the queue instead of the front, so one difficult track can no longer push ahead of the hundreds waiting behind it. And a download that fails now says so when the run ends, instead of the progress panel quietly disappearing. Separately, on the web player, Safari was silently refusing to keep offline copies at all — the file downloaded but nothing was stored, so the Downloaded list stayed empty behind a Restore button that could never succeed. That is fixed for iPhone and Mac Safari alike.
